the one I love
November 9, 2008
My brother and I visited our nana today in hospital. Poor old thing. Half of her liver’s died, she has a bladder infection, her kidneys have packed it in, and we found out that she was diagnosed with a chest infection this morning. Not a good outlook for the poor love.
Anyhow, we were driving back afterwards, and I was telling A. about my friend M’s wedding yesterday. (He’s known M for as long as I have, nearly two-thirds of his lifetime.) I finished by saying how much I love my friends’ boyfriends, husbands and partners, that they’re all so lovely to my friends. A. added, ‘And don’t forget SO. He’s great. Very good value.’
It’s so true. He’s a lovely guy. I’m so lucky. Things could have been so very different. When I finished uni, I could have done a PhD, but was unsuccessful for a scholarship, so I entered the workforce. If I’d got a scholarship, we never would have met. It seems unbelievable. I just can’t imagine what my life would be like without him.
On Tuesday is our 2nd wedding anniversary. It’s almost irrelevant to me, as we’ll have been together five years next April. That said, we’re taking the day off work together, to lounge around, have a picnic, and just spend time together. I can’t wait.
